My client, a leading fire engineering consultancy, is seeking a competent Fire Surveyor with experience in external wall assessments and Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (FRAEW). This role requires a detail-oriented professional to conduct thorough passive fire assessments and ensure compliance with current legislation and UK building standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Passive Fire Assessments:
    Evaluate performance characteristics of external walls, interpreting manufacturers’ literature, certification, and test reports to assess fire resistance.

  • Fire Risk Appraisals:
    Conduct comprehensive Fire Risk Appraisals, including External Wall Assessments (EWS1 and FRAEW).

  • Site Visits:
    Undertake detailed site inspections to assess compliance with fire safety requirements.

  • Legislative Compliance:
    Ensure adherence to relevant UK building standards and fire safety regulations.

  • Travel Requirements:
    Travel across the UK, with the possibility of overnight stays, to complete site visits and client engagements.

  • Time Management:
    Effectively manage time to meet deadlines and maintain high standards of service delivery.

  • Fee Proposals:
    Assist in preparing fee proposals for potential and ongoing projects.

  • Commercial Awareness:
    Demonstrate a strong understanding of the commercial aspects of fire safety consultancy.

  • CPD Contribution:
    Provide input and support for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) within the organisation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Educational Background:
    Relevant degree or qualification in Building Studies, Risk Assessment, or a related field.

  • Professional Memberships:
    Membership with a recognised body in surveying, construction, engineering, or fire safety (e.g., IFE, IFSM, AIFireE).

  • Experience:
    Proven track record in a similar role, with experience in external wall assessments and FRAEW.

  • Driving Licence:
    A full UK driving licence is essential due to the nature of the role.
