The Social Housing Solicitor/Director’s role

The Social Housing Solicitor/Director will manage a varied caseload and provide leadership across all aspects of housing law. You will:

  • Supervise solicitors, trainees, and caseworkers, ensuring high standards of service and compliance

  • Represent clients in court proceedings, including advocacy where appropriate

  • Handle urgent housing cases, judicial reviews, and strategic litigation

  • Deliver in-house training and support ongoing staff development

  • Contribute to marketing and business development initiatives to support growth

  • Liaise with the Legal Aid Agency and ensure accurate funding applications

The Social Housing Solicitor/Director

To be considered for the Social Housing Solicitor/Director position, candidates must have:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ PQE in housing law and litigation

  • Recent experience as a Duty Advisor under the Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme

  • Eligibility under the 2013 SQM Supervisor Standard or willingness to attain it

  • A valid Practising Certificate and strong advocacy skills

  • Proven leadership and mentoring experience within a legal team

  • Excellent communication, IT, and client care skills
