The Senior Building Surveyor’s Role
As a key point of contact for clients-predominantly within the commercial real estate sector-you will deliver a wide range of professional building surveying services across commercial portfolios. This includes everything from condition surveys, dilapidation advice, and party wall matters, through to contract administration and delivering CAT A/B fit-outs, remedial and refurbishment projects.
You’ll also have the opportunity to manage teams, lead service delivery, and be involved in the strategic growth of the business unit.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities Include:
- Managing and delivering building surveying commissions across feasibility, design, and project delivery stages
- Leading contract administration for new build, refurbishment, and maintenance projects
- Providing expert advice to clients and stakeholders across the full property lifecycle
- Mentoring and developing junior team members
- Preparing and managing planned preventative maintenance schedules
- Supporting business unit directors in meeting wider commercial goals
- Preparing proposals and fee bids
- Ensuring high-quality service delivery across all technical outputs
- Managing sub-consultants and ensuring compliance with appointment processes
The Successful Senior Building Surveyor Will Have:
Qualifications:
- MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) – Essential
Experience & Skills:
- Broad, in-depth post-qualification Building Surveying experience
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, legislation, and procurement strategies
- Confident administering contracts as Employer’s Agent / Contract Administrator
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
- Commercially aware with strong financial and negotiation abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
