Facilities Manager

An excellent opportunity for a Facilities Manager to work on a brand new site for the UK's leading Academy for the Performing Arts, based in South London. The site will be used for full time training and education of young people and adults, and also as a community hub open to the wider public.

The Employer

The Facilities Manager will join a well-known and thriving secondary-school dedicated to the performing arts. They provide the highest quality training for actors, directors, producers and theatre production artists, and have a strong commitment to the specialised requirements of TV, film and radio.

With a national reputation for developing young people - 800 every year - the Academy has a fantastic track record with 95% of its students securing professional work within 12 months of graduation.

The new site in South London will also be open for adult training and, importantly, its facilities, including theatre, cafes and rooftop bar, will be open to the wider public.

The Role

As a Facilities Manager, reporting to the Projects and Estates Director, you will have full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the whole site.

This is a brand-new build, constructed to the highest standards, including high quality, latest versions of infrastructure systems such as HVAC, Elevators (3 x passenger; 1 x goods), Chilled Water, AV etc. There is also a substantial amount of high-end technology relating to theatre, TV, film and radio production.

The role has added complexity as the site will be open to the public at certain times of week, sometimes when the students are also on site.

Health and Safety is a primary responsibility.

You will also be responsible for negotiating and renewing service contracts.

There is a supporting maintenance team in place.

The Person

The successful Facilities Manager will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in managing facilities that are open to the general public
  • Experience in managing modern facilities
  • Relevant qualifications such as BIFM, NEBOSH, IOSH
  • Contract and Budget management
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure, work to tight deadlines, and prioritise time effectively
